The Washington Nationals announced that they have agreed to a multi-million dollar deal with former Blue Jays pitcher Foster Griffin.

Despite the holidays rolling around and most people starting their breaks for the next couple of weeks, it looks like MLB front offices do not have that same luxury as deals continue to be signed every day.

Nationals sign Foster Griffin to new deal

The Nationals announced that they have reached an agreement with Griffin on a $5.5 million deal on a one year term.
The deal between Griffin and the Nationals also includes incentives which if reached could raise his contract to $6.5 million as there is $1 million in addition bonuses.
Free-agent pitcher Foster Griffin and the Washington Nationals are in agreement on a one-year, $5.5 million contract with incentives to get it to $6.5 million, pending physical, according to sources familiar with the deal.
Griffin has a similar situation to Blue Jays newly signed pitcher Cody Ponce as he has spent the last few years playing over seas after a tough stretch in the MLB a couple season ago.
Between 2020 and 2022, Griffin pitched in 7 MLB games as he finished with a 6.75 ERA in a total of 8 innings with 5 strikeouts and a 1-0 record.
During his time with the Blue Jays, Griffin only saw 2 innings in the MLB where he had a 0.00 ERA and 2 strike outs before he was released and went on to sign overseas.
After putting up some great numbers in the NPB over the last 3 years, Griffin along with the Nationals are hoping he can continue to improve and become an elite MLB pitcher.
