The Kansas City Royals announced yesterday that they have decided to DFA former Toronto Blue Jays catcher Luke Maile.
Maile seems to be another on the long list of former Blue Jays to be let go by his current team as just two days ago former outfielder Billy McKinney was released by the New York Mets yesterday.
The Royals DFA former Blue Jays catcher Luke Maile
The Royals announced yesterday that they decided to DFA Toronto former catcher Luke Maile to make room on their roster for right handed pitcher Taylor Clarke who is coming off the paternity list.
We have made the following roster moves:
-
Luke Maile designated for assignment

Maile spent three season with the Toronto Blue Jays between 2017 and 2019 in which his best season in the MLB happened as he finished the year with 3 homeruns and 27 RBIs during the 2018 season for the Blue Jays.
It does not come as a big surprise that the Royals decided to move on from Maile as he only played three games this season but with solid numbers at the plate over those few games, he will likely get another shot somewhere else.
Even though he is a bit older and the Blue Jays already have plenty of roster spots occupied by players over 32 years old, it might not be a bad idea to bring him back on a minor league deal since they have so little depth at catcher.
It will be interesting to see where Maile ends up and if he gets another chance in the MLB or if he will end up in the minors.
