Former Blue Jays infielder Freddy Galvis announces his retirement online
Former Blue Jays shortstop Freddy Glavis took to social media yesterday to announce that he has decided to call it a career and retire after playing for the last 19 years.
Former Phillie Freddy Galvis announced via social media his retirement from professional baseball.
Galvis played for the Phillies from 2012 to 2017, and again in 2021. He spent the last few seasons playing in Japan, Mexico and Venezuela.
Galvis did not play in Toronto for a long time but was with the Blue Jays for 115 games in 2021 which he made quite the impression raking up 18 homeruns and 54 RBIs in that time which was one of the best years of his career.
The former Blue Jays shortstop is mostly remembered for his time with the Philadelphia Phillies in which he was known as a very solid defensive player.
Galvis was most recently playing in the Mexican League where he signed in March 2024 but after being released this past March, it looks like he has finally decided to call it a career.
