RIP Randy Moffitt, a reliable Giants reliever from 1972 to 1981, who's fourth in the team's West Coast history in games pitched, 459. Best year 1973, posting 2.42 ERA with 14 saves in 60 outings. On team's Wall of Fame. Brother of Billie Jean King. He was 76.
Moffitt was with the Blue Jays for the final year of his career in which he finished with a solid 3.77 ERA in 45 games and 57.1 innings pitched while striking out a total of 38 batters before calling it a career.
The best season of Moffitt's career came in his second season in the MLB in 1973 with the Giants where he pitched 100.1 innings, finishing with a 2.42 ERA including 65 strikeouts and a 4-4 record.
The former Blue Jays pitcher is also remembered for being the brother of famous tennis player Billie Jean King.
