Former Toronto Blue Jays pitcher signs with the Milwaukee Brewers
Former Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Julian Merryweather has found himself a new home as he agrees to a deal with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Merryweather was signed to a minor league deal by the New York Mets back in early June but did not last very long as he was released right after the trade deadline back into free agency.

The Brewers announced this afternoon that they have agreed to a minor league deal with Merryweather and have assigned him to their Triple-A affiliate team based out of Nashville.

Merryweather pitched for Toronto ('20-'22) & Chicago ('23-'25) before being released from the Cubs in May

Brewers are signing reliever Julian Merryweather to a minor league deal after he opted out of his contract with the Mets, a source says. He will be reporting to Class AAA Nashville. Merryweather spent 2023-2025 in the majors within the division with the Cubs.
This will be Merryweather's third team this season as he has spent time with the Chicago Cubs, Mets and now the Brewers but has failed to find a permanent home.
Merryweather spent three season with the Blue Jays between 2020 and 2022 but spent the majority of his time in the minors where his best year was his first one when he finished with a 4.15 ERA in 13 innings pitched.
So far in 2025, Merryweather has pitched 18.2 innings in the MLB which came with the Cubs where he finished with a 5.79 ERA.
He will now look to work his way back from the minors and onto the Brewers bullpen which will certainly not be easy.
