Former Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Jesse Chavez recently announced that he does not want to retire just yet and wants to play in 2025 despite being 41 years old.
Players often retire when they can no longer play at the level they once did but it is never for a lack of love for the game but in Chavez' case, he seems to have gotten better as he got older.

Chavez has been a solid relief pitcher especially in the second half of his career where his numbers improved drastically which is why he continues to get contract offers.
In a recent interview with the San Francisco Chronicle, Chavez stated that he does not want to retire and wants to play next season even if he is now 41 years old.
Veteran reliever Jesse Chavez told Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle that he intends to pitch in 2025, his age 41 season.

Chavez had a great season in 2024 for the Atlanta Braves as one of their best relievers, finishing the season with a 3.13 ERA in 63.1 innings pitched while striking out 55 batters.
The former Blue Jays pitcher did not spend a ton of time in Toronto as he played 9 games for them in 2012 putting up rough numbers before a second stint in 2016 where did a little better but still ended up with a 4.57 ERA in 41.1 innings pitched.
There is a good chance that Chavez will end up signing a new deal before the start of Spring Training since his numbers last season prove that age is just a number.
