Former Toronto Blue Jays reliever has serious injury that will keep him out until the all-star break

The Toronto Blue Jays have been dealing with a lot of injury problems this season but it looks like former pitcher Tim Mayza is having the same issue with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Mayza was released by the Blue Jays around the all-star break after having a terrible start to the year which resulted in the New York Yankees claiming him and going to the World Series with him.

The Pirates announced yesterday that Mayza has been on 15 day IL for a few days due to a lat strain but it looks like the injury is more serious than expected as he is also dealing with a teres major injury.
The Pirates are shutting down lefty reliever Tim Mayza for six weeks, director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk informs reporters (including Colin Beazley of The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Alex Stumpf of MLB.com). The southpaw went on the 15-day injured list over the weekend with a lat strain. Stumpf notes that he's also dealing with a teres major injury. -Franco
According to reports, Mayza will not be ready to start throwing again until at the earliest which as he has been shut down for at least six weeks and is expected to only return after the all-star break.
A six-week shutdown means Mayza very likely won't be back until after the All-Star Break. He won't be cleared to resume throwing until June at the earliest. He'd need multiple bullpen and batting practice sessions before heading on a minor league rehab assignment. A transfer to the 60-day IL is all but assured. -Franco
This is a tough loss for the Pirates since Mayza has been playing very well for them so far with a 2.89 ERA in 9.1 innings pitched on the year while striking out 8 batters as well.
This is brutal timing for the Pirates since they have been struggling to start the year and could not afford to lose one of their better relievers for the next six weeks but it looks like they will need to figure it out.
