The Blue Jays seem to have Santander as their top free agent target at this point in the off-season as he would bring them some much needed offense and would be able to fill their hole in the outfield.
According to reports, Santander seems to be very interested in joining the Toronto Blue Jays, contrary to the majority of the Blue Jays off-season targets so far this winter.
Apparently Anthony Santander is also «interested» in joining the Blue Jays They're just a little off on the contract details

Apparently the only issue at hand since both parties are very interested seems to be that Santander is looking for a bit longer term as rumors have it he is looking for a 5 year deal.
The Blue Jays have already made their first offer to Santander which was $82 million over 4 years which would pay him an average salary of $20.5 million.
So if Santander is alright with the average salary, on a five year deal the Blue Jays could close him for $102 million over 5 years at $20.5 million per season or perhaps slightly less if he takes a bit of a discount for the extra season.
This seems to be a no brainer type move if all he is looking for is an extra year on his contract but that does not mean Atkins will get it done.
Hopefully Atkins sees that the Blue Jays have no other options and get this deal done but until that happens, fans will just have to wait.
