The Toronto Blue Jays have been looking to signing free agent Alex Bregman for quite some time but it looks like the Houston Astros have raised their offer as they want to try and keep him in Houston.

The Blue Jays are still looking at a few players this off-season as GM Ross Atkins stated at recent press conference that they are not done signing players just yet and are still looking to make a few big moves.

The Astros are looking to raise their offer to free agent Alex Bregman

The Blue Jays seem to have a lot of interest in Alex Bregman but their pursuit of the former Astro has quieted down over the last week and Houston has come back into the picture.
According to MLB insider Jon Heyman, the Astros are prepared to offer Bregman a contract of at least $156 million over 6 years which is an offer he rejected earlier this off-season.
Astros are trying to bring back Alex Bregman. They're still willing to do (at least) $156M, 6 yrs, but one reason he declined that earlier is it's a cut from $28.5M salary. There's said another team offering 6 w/1st year optout ($ unknown). Among others in: Cubs, Bosox, Tigers
The Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers are apparently also still interested but it seems like no one is willing to offer Bregman the $200 million he is looking for.
If the Blue Jays end up landing free agent Pete Alonso, the chances of them going after Bregman as well are pretty much slim to none.
Bregman seems to want to go back to Houston but it seems unlikely that he ends up changing his mind and being alright with the $156 million deal since he is looking for almost $50 million more than that.
As teams continue to gather interest in Bregman, as the price continues to go up, the Blue Jays seem to continue to lose interest as they are not ready to pay that much for him.
When looking at his declining numbers from the past few seasons, it seems like the Blue Jays are making the right decision.
