The Toronto Blue Jays are still looking for ways to improve their roster as they sit one game over .500 right now which is why they could be interested in Colorado Rockies reliever Jake Bird.

The Rockies are off to a horrendous start this season as they currently have the worst record in modern MLB history through 50 games with a 8-42 record which is why they will definitely be sellers at the trade deadline.

Blue Jays could look to trade for Rockies reliever Jake Bird

The Rockies have very few bright spots in their lineup this season but one of the few has been Bird who currently has a 1.778 ERA on the season which is impressive no matter what but it is that much bigger when looking at the team he is currently on.
The 28-year-old right hander is in his fourth season with the Rockies, and is on pace for a career year. He's recorded a 1.78 ERA and 33 strikeouts through 25 innings this season, which is good for a 31.1% strikeout rate. His 11.72 K/9 is the third-best among relief pitchers who have thrown at least 20 innings. -Sookram

The Blue Jays bullpen has had a lot of problems this season, the biggest been injuries as they still have multiple relief pitchers on IL which is why bringing in Bird could be great for them.
You can never have enough competent pitching in the bullpen and Bird would be a fine addition to the Blue Jays relief corps. -Sookram

The only issue here is that Bird is not on an expiring deal which means the Blue Jays will likely have to give up some solid pieces for him and since they mostly need a starting pitcher, it might not be worth it.
He's a year away from arbitration so his price tag's going up and he likely doesn't fit into the Rockies' next contention window (if one exists), so it would be organizational malpractice if Colorado doesn't put him on the block ahead of the trade dead. -Sookram

If Toronto can figure out a way to get Bird some low end prospects then it would definitely be worth it but the chances that the Rockies let him go for that is very slim.
