The Toronto Blue Jays took on the Seattle Mariners this afternoon and catcher Alejandro Kirk left the game with a head injury.
The Blue Jays finally walked away from a series on top for the first time in a while after sweeping the Seattle Mariners in three straight games over the last few days in Seattle.
Blue Jays announce injury update regarding catcher Alejandro Kirk
The Blue Jays crushed the Mariners this afternoon putting up their highest score of the season with a 9-1 victory over the Mariners.
During the game, things took a turn for the worse for Kirk as he took a bat straight to the mask and was removed from the game which the team stated was for precaution and replaced by Tyler Heineman.
Tyler Heineman is in the dugout now with his catchers gear on. Looks like starter Alejandro Kirk is out of the game as a precaution after getting hit in the back of his mask on a follow through swing.
After the game the team reported that Kirk was removed due to a head contusion and that they will be running some tests on him tomorrow in Toronto to see if it is anything serious.
Alejandro Kirk has a «head contusion» but the #BlueJays will still test him tomorrow in Toronto.
Schneider says the bat clipped him and his helmet in a weird spot, which got his ear.
Hopefully the injury is nothing serious since this would put the Blue Jays is a very tough spot since they do not really have anyone else to rely on since Heineman is simply not an every day starter.
