Injury update: Blue Jays announce Alejandro Kirk's MRI results

The Blue Jays announce late this afternoon that Ernie Clement suffered a hairline fracture in his finger but will not be placed on IL as he plans on playing through the injury.

Toronto was hit with the injury bug again last night as they had both Clement and Kirk get injured although they played through in in last night's loss to the Minnesota Twins.

The team announced this evening some great news regarding Kirk's MRI at it looks like the scans came back negative and that the injury simply looks worse than it really is.

The Blue Jays still decided to give Kirk the night off as Tyler Heineman has stepped in to close out the series against the Twins.

While Heineman has been very solid for the Blue Jays when Kirk was last injured, knowing that he will not have to go on IL is great news since the Blue Jays have very little catcher depth in their system.

Kirk has been one of the stand out players for the Blue Jays this season which is the reason he was voted as an All-Star for his second career selection this year.

While Kirk will sit out tonight, there is a good chance that he is back in the lineup against the Milwaukee Brewers tomorrow night.
