The Toronto Blue Jays have experienced a roller coaster of a season, after an impressive 12-8 start, they dropped five straight games and have struggles to regain that early momentum ever since.
Since then, the Blue Jays have endured separate losing streaks of four and three games, but they've also strung together winning streaks of similar length, keeping their season record around the .500 mark.
The Toronto Blue Jays are quietly becoming the hottest teams in the MLB.
Michael Brauner from the Toronto Blue Jays On Si writes that heading into the weekend, however, the Blue Jays are riding high after perhaps their most impressive accomplishment of the season, a statement sweep of one of baseball's top teams, the San Diego Padres.
"Capping things off with an epic 11th inning walk-off victory on Thursday night via a hit for the red-hot Nathan Lukes, the Blue Jays have some things to be encouraged about." -Brauner
The win marks four victories in their last five games for Toronto and might be just the spark they need to steady the ship and build some momentum for a strong run.
With today's victory, the Blue Jays have now earned a sweep against every MLB franchise except the Dodgers
Brauner also writes that it'll take more than a solid two-week stretch and an impressive sweep to keep Toronto in the mix of what's shaping up to be a highly competitive divisional race, but it's precisely the kind of boost this team needs right now.
"The next two series against Tampa Bay and another road trip to face the Texas Rangers should show a whole lot as to what this team is made of." -Brauner
They still have more to prove, but it's starting to look like the Blue Jays are doing just that.
