We all wanted Isiah Kiner-Falefa to be a hero in Game 7, but his latest comments just feel like sour grapes.
The former Blue Jays utility man is officially a member of the Boston Red Sox, but he apparently left his heart—and his bitterness—in Toronto.
In a recent interview, IKF expressed frustration that he didn't get a "proper interview" after the heartbreaking World Series loss to the Dodgers.
He claims it was "unfair" that there were "no cameras in his face" immediately after Miguel Rojas threw him out at home plate to save the game.
"If it was going to be such a big deal, it would've been nice to have the camera in my face and have a chance to speak," he told reporters.
Excuse me?
Isiah Kiner-Falefa says it's unfair he didn't get a postgame interview after Miguel Rojas threw him out at home in World Series Game 7:
"There was no cameras in my face after the game. If it was going to be such a big deal, it would've been nice to have the camera in my face and have a chance to speak."
"There was no cameras in my face after the game. If it was going to be such a big deal, it would've been nice to have the camera in my face and have a chance to speak."
Accountability is earned, not requested after the fact
Most players would kill to avoid the media scrum after making the final out of a World Series Game 7.
Complaining that you didn't get grilled by reporters while your teammates were crying in the locker room is a bizarre take.
It screams of a player trying to rewrite history now that he's wearing a rival uniform.
The reality is simple: he took a conservative lead, hesitated, and got thrown out by a second baseman who stumbled.
Blaming "organizational policy" or the lack of media attention doesn't change the fact that he was out by inches.
Fans aren't mad because he didn't give a quote; they are heartbroken because he didn't score.
He says he "did what he was told," but instincts have to take over in the bottom of the ninth with a championship on the line.
Moving to Boston and immediately stirring the pot is a sure-fire way to get booed when he returns to Rogers Centre.
