John Schneider providing some positive news regarding Addison Barger's injury after the loss last night.

Barger left the Blue Jays' 3-0 loss to the White Sox with bilateral ankle discomfort, another hit to a roster that has already been stretched early.
Schneider's first message gave Toronto at least some breathing room. He said, “Hopefully it's just a day or two or maybe not even a day,” which sounds a lot better than the alternatives the Blue Jays have been dealing with lately.
That line matters because Barger is not some extra bench piece anymore. He has become part of the everyday picture, and Toronto needs his left-handed bat and defensive flexibility in the lineup.
The play itself looked awkward enough to get everybody's attention. Barger appeared to land hard after running through first base, stayed in for a bit, then came out once the discomfort kept hanging around.
That sequence fits Schneider's tone after the game. The manager did not frame it like a long absence was already staring them in the face. He framed it like a player who got banged up and may have escaped something worse.

Toronto needs this one to stay short-term

The timing is what makes the update more important than a standard day-to-day note. The Blue Jays were just swept in Chicago and are heading into a tougher stretch without much room for more lineup erosion.
Barger's value is easy to spot because he can move around the field and still give Schneider some thump. Last season, he hit 21 home runs with a .755 OPS, the kind of production Toronto cannot casually replace.
Even if Schneider's optimism holds, a sore pair of ankles can still affect a lot. It changes how a player runs, how he plants for throws, and how aggressive he can be in the box. That is why the next day or two matter.
The clip and the postgame reaction both carried the same feel. This was a scare, and the Blue Jays were relieved the first read did not sound heavier.
Toronto has already had enough early roster shuffling to know one injury can start pushing other players into bigger roles fast. That is why Schneider's words landed as more than routine manager talk.
For now, the Blue Jays will take the manager at his word and hope Barger is back almost immediately. After the way this trip ended, even a small piece of good news counts.
The Blue Jays cannot afford to lose another player to injury this early in the season so hopefully everything ends up coming back positive.
