John Schneider's time with the Blue Jays is coming to an end as they have found a replacement
It was reported that
Pittsburgh Pirates manager Derek Shelton was fired after having a 12-26 start to his teams season in that Schneider may face the same fate if the Blue Jays cannot turn it around.
Blue Jays have slipped steady over the past several weeks
In the opening weeks of the season, the Blue Jays appeared to be define the odds of many pundits within Major League Baseball that the team would struggle despite having an active winter off season which saw several new players come into the fold.
«Schneider as Jays skipper is 0-4 in postseason games, and last season the Jays backslid to a disappointing 88-loss season - their worst season since 2019, when they were rebuilding,» Perry wrote. «Present conditions find them at four games below .500 and tied for third place despite what was a reasonably active winter.» Dayn Perry
The team has been wildly inconsistent over the past couple of weeks as the team has struggled offensively and has had some questionable decisions made regarding player personnel.
«Given that Schneider's job seemed to be in danger coming out of the 2024 season, he's done nothing to improve his standing this year,» Perry added. «Absent a turnaround in the standings, he's probably in serious danger.» Dayn Perry
Schneider holds no contract past this season
As the Blue Jays continue to struggle, it's been widely known that Schneider does not hold a contract past this season which shows no confidence from management as the team now has the third highest payroll in Major League Baseball.
It will all come down to what President Mark Shapiro and general manager Ross Atkins feels about the performance of Schneider and his team and whether there's another baseball manager that could step in and turn things around as the season still has plenty of games remaining.
Shapiro also does not hold the contract past this season, and could hold this card as a way to help guarantee himself a new deal especially if the team can find a way to win more baseball games under a new voice as they currently remain four games below .500 and sit third in the American League East.
The Blue Jays will make another attempt to beat
the Los Angeles Angels as they closeout their series and prepare to head north to take on
the Seattle Mariners.
If the team continues to spiral, the John Schneider watch will continue.
