Jose Berrios absolutely carved through a loaded New York Yankees lineup yesterday, and his dominant spring performance brings pure electricity to Toronto.

The veteran right-hander took the mound against our biggest rivals and looked completely untouchable. He threw four flawless innings without allowing a single hit.
Spring training results can sometimes be deceiving to the naked eye. We all know the real test comes when the games actually count in April.
Yet, watching him command the strike zone against elite hitters like Aaron Judge changes the entire narrative. The confidence is radiating directly from the mound.
Seeing him average 93.1 mph on his four-seam fastball in late February is incredibly encouraging. The physical preparation this winter is obviously paying off.
Striking out Austin Wells on six pitches showed his swing-and-miss stuff is already locked in. The breaking pitches are snapping with violent intent.
When his two-seam sinker sits at 92.3 mph, opposing hitters have absolutely zero chance. That pitch simply devours right-handed bats.

A dominant rotation dictates the pace of playoff baseball

We are all just praying for this pitching staff to finally stay healthy and lead us to a championship parade. The loyal fans deserve a deep October run.
Jose Berrios (Age 31, Drafted Round 1, 2012 by Minnesota Twins) is pitching with a massive chip on his shoulder right now. He wants the ball in big moments.
Last season he posted a solid 9-5 record with a 4.17 ERA across 31 starts. He knows he has another level to reach.
Berrios has been linked to a ton of trade rumors up until now due to how the end of last season went but if he continues to pitch at this level, it is likely he ends up staying in Toronto.
Manager John Schneider must be absolutely thrilled watching his veteran attack the strike zone with such precision. This is exactly the aggressive mentality the clubhouse needs.
When he gets Jazz Chisholm to chase high heat for an out, you know his release point is perfectly hidden. The visual deception is simply elite.
Recording 138 strikeouts last summer proved his durability over a long grind. He takes massive pride in taking the ball every fifth day.
The starting rotation is building something incredibly special down in Florida right now. Every single pitcher is feeding off this amazing competitive energy.
This dominant afternoon against the Yankees is just a small preview of the dominance to come. The regular season cannot arrive fast enough.
