Jose Berrios has officially cleared the air, and for the Blue Jays, it marks the end of the only drama lingering from last season.

The veteran right-hander spoke candidly today about his controversial choice to leave the team before the World Series last year.
After being removed from the rotation and placed on the injured list, Berrios admitted he let his emotions get the best of him.
"Just made maybe one, one bad decision to go back home, to keep working on my rehab and stay close to my family," Berrios said, owning the mistake.
José Berrios reflected on leaving the #BlueJays ahead of the WS last year. He said he’s apologized to his teammates and wants to put it in the past.

It takes a big man to stand up in front of a microphone and admit he was wrong.
Berrios (Acquired via Trade, 2021) has been a model citizen and a leader since the day he arrived in Toronto.
His 2025 season was frustrating—a 4.17 ERA and battling through elbow inflammation is not what "La Makina" is used to.
But leaving the squad before the biggest series of the year left a mark that needed to be addressed.

This apology is exactly what the team needed to hear

Now that he has apologized to his teammates and management, the page can officially be turned.
John Schneider alluded to this earlier, stating the matter was "handled internally," and now we see the result of those conversations.
A focused and unburdened Berrios is dangerous for the rest of the American League.
With the rotation now stacked with names like Gausman, Cease, and Bieber, Berrios doesn't need to be the savior; he just needs to be himself.
He is fighting for his spot and his reputation, and that usually brings out the absolute best in elite competitors.
We all make mistakes in the heat of the moment. What matters is how you fix them.
Berrios has done his part. Now, it's time to get back on the mound and win baseball games.
