The Toronto Blue Jays have been rumored to be all in on free agent Juan Soto but MLB insider Ken Rosenthal believes that no signing Vladimir Guerrero Jr to an extension can end up costing them Soto.
The Blue Jays were the first team to meet with Soto in California and according to reports the meeting went very well even though the Blue Jays have yet to give Soto and his team an official offer.
The Toronto Blue Jays have been strongly linked to superstar free agent outfielder Juan Soto this offseason. The Jays were the first team to meet Soto last week and Jon Heyman of the New York Post believes Toronto is one of the biggest threats, outside of the New York Yankees and New York Mets, to sign the four-time all-star. -TSN

MLB insider believes the Blue Jays are in an impossible situation because they are trying to sign Soto who is likely stating he wants them to lock in Guerrero to a long term deal perform committing to them. However, Guerrero is saying the same thing as he wants the Blue Jays to lock in a star player before he signs his long term extension.
"Perhaps Guerrero is telling the Jays, 'Find some players to put around me, and then I'll consider staying.' Perhaps Soto, Anthony Santander and other Jays free-agent targets are saying, 'Sign Vlad Jr., and then we'll talk.' In which case, the Jays are stuck between a rock and a hard place - an impossible position, but one of their own making," Rosenthal wrote.
