Kevin Gausman had a horrible outing against the New York Yankees on Saturday with the Blue Jays pitcher giving up five earned runs while also walking guys left and right.

It was supposed to be a hopeful start for Gausman, although it was anything but. By the beginning of the second inning, the Blue Jays had given up six runs, and it was time to take Gausman out.

By the sixth inning, the Blue Jays were losing by a score of 9-2. However, players like Vladimir Guerrero Jr. were able to kickstart a pretty impressive comeback. Unfortunately for the Jays, they came up short on the comeback effort. The final score was 9-8.

After the game, Gausman spoke to TSN about what went down and how he gave up so many runs. After a significant dip in his velocity, he was asked if that was a factor at all. However, he noted that he doesn't even look at that stuff. At the end of the day, it all came down to rhythm.

«I really don't look at my velo. That's kind of the running joke: I'm 88 to 98 (mph), so they don't know what they're going to get. I don't know what I'm going to get, either. I could never kind of get in a rhythm tonight, walking guys, not my usual self."

While Gausman won't be in for a few games, the grind continues for the Toronto Blue Jays. They take on the Yankees again today, at 1:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
