Toronto Blue Jays starter, Kevin Gausman has had his best outing of the season after getting the 9-1 win and striking out 10 Detroit Tiger Batters.
Kevin Gausman struck out a season-best 10 in six innings, Daulton Varsho hit a tiebreaking homer in the seventh and the Toronto Blue Jays pulled away for a 9-1 victory over the skidding Detroit Tigers on Thursday night.
Gausman's 10 K's marks his highest tally of the season as the Blue Jays were able to dominate the Detroit Tigers with a 9-1 Win.
Gausman even stated he didn't feel his best as he fell behind a lot in the count which is usually a recipe for disaster as a starting pitcher. He was shocked by his ability to get aggressive and get the job done.
«I didn't think I had the stuff to strike out 10 guys tonight, but I was able to command my pitches,» Gausman said. «We were 0-1 on just about every hitter, and when you do that, you become the aggressor.»
The bats which have been sluggish (in not a good way) but seemed to back up their starting pitcher and have their highest run count in a inning this season.

«Our at-bats have been getting better,» manager John Schneider said. «I think the approach is shifting and we're doing a better job of grinding through to the third time through.»

The big right-hander only allowed 3 hits and 1 earned run in the Win. H is now 3-3 with an ERA of 4.47 in 10 games pitched. His ERA is not where he wants it but with performances like that it will be creeping down slowly.
