The Toronto Blue Jays seem to be running out of patience with starting pitcher Bowden Francis which is why it looks like he might get traded at the trade deadline.
Francis came into the season riding a heater from 2024 as he finished the year with a 1.80 ERA in his last 65 innings pitched on the season but has unfortunately not been able to build off of that in 2025.
Francis entered this season with a ton of hype around him after he had a 1.80 ERA over his final 65 innings of the season and carried a no-hitter into the eighth inning in two separate starts. -Sankar

No one expected for Francis to put up the same incredible numbers this season that he had in the final stretch of 2024 but fans certainly expected a lot more from him than he has been giving in 2025.
So far this season, Francis has a 5.04 ERA to go along with a 2-6 record and 46 strikeouts in 55.1 innings pitched.
Since the Blue jays are still very short on starting pitchers right now, they desperately need Francis to return to his form from 2024 but if he is unable to fix things by the trade deadline, they might look to move him.
The good news for the Blue Jays is that he turned in his best start of the year his last time out when he threw five scoreless innings against the Rangers with six strikeouts. The Blue Jays will need more of that from Francis if they want to stay in the postseason race. -Sankar
However, the Blue Jays are in a tough spot because if they do end up trading Francis they would need a way to bring in another starting pitcher since both Spencer Turnbull and Alek Manoah will not be available for another couple months.
In an ideal world, Francis will be able to find his game again and help the Blue Jays make a serious push for the playoffs but if he continues to play like this, they will be forced to start looking for a replacement.
