The Toronto Blue Jays are coming to the end of Spring Training with Opening Day and while some players have been playing their way onto the team, two players have played their way off the Opening Day roster.

For the most part, the Blue Jays have had a good idea of who will be on their team for the 2025 season as all the starting positions spots were taken but its the bench and bullpen that had some openings.

Leo Jimenez and Tommy Nance seem to have played their way off the Blue Jays Opening Day roster

Most thought that the Blue Jays would end up keeping Leo Jimenez for the 2025 season entering Spring Training since he proved in the past to be a great defender and utility player.
Unfortunately, things have gone quite terribly for Jimenez in camp as he currently has a .160 batting average to go along with a .584 OPS, 0 homeruns or RBIs in 12 games played.
That solid performance gave Jiménez a good shot at making the Jays' roster as a utility infielder for 2025. However, things haven't gone as planned as Jiménez has struggled immensely this spring. He has compiled a dismal .160 average, .584 OPS, together with just five runs scored, two doubles with zero home runs and RBI in 12 games. -Eng

Nance is another player that has played himself out of a roster spot for Opening Day as he was expected to be on the team despite how he finished last season due to all the injuries in the bullpen.
Due to his horrible pitching through Spring Training, there is a good chance that the Blue Jays end up giving his spot in the bullpen to someone else like Richard Lovelady.
However, things haven't gone Nance's way this spring. He's amassed a less-than-stellar 6.23 ERA while giving up a whopping eight hits in just 4 1/3 innings of work this spring. -Eng

The competition is quite tough right now on the bench and the bullpen which is why these two will need to drastically show improvement in the last few games before the season if they plan on staying.
