Toronto Blue Jays president Mark Shapiro's contract is coming up at the end of the season and many are wondering if Edward Rogers will bring him back for 2026.

The Blue Jays have a lot of players and staff members with coming up at the end of the season which of course includes all-star shortstop Bo Bichette.

Update announce of Blue Jays president Mark Shapiro's contract

The Blue Jays are having an incredible 2025 season after finishing last in the American League division in 2024 which the majority of fans did not see coming at the start of the season.
Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun recently spoke on Shapiro's next contract since his current one is set to expire at the end of the season and believes that despite the great season, there is still a chance Shapiro is not renewed.
"Does he re-up him as club president because of this season or let him go because of the past nine seasons before this one. Brendan Shanahan was let go as president of the Maple Leafs after 11 seasons. Masai Ujiri was let go as president of the Raptors after 12 seasons. Both had more success on the field or ice or court in their middle years than Shapiro has had. And both were far more popular and believable to their fan bases." -Simmons

Simmons mentions that Rogers who is owns the Toronto Raptors and Maple Leafs as well as the Jays recently let go of Brendan Shanahan and Masai Ujiri despite those teams having much more success over the last few years that the Blue Jays.
When looking at Shapiro's time in Toronto, he certainly has not had much success with the team but this year might be saving him because the Blue Jays have been dominant which might end up saving his job.
"So the question remains for Edward Rogers, whose company owns the Jays, Maple Leafs and Raptors. Does Shapiro's timing of pulling a great season out of his hat land him a new deal?" -Simmons

If the Blue Jays end up making the playoffs but still lose in their first round, there is a high likelihood that Rogers let's go of both Shapiro and Ross Atkins to shake things up in the front office a bit.
For now it looks like Shapiro's job should be safe for next season but there is still a lot of baseball left and that could change very quickly.
