The MLB announced that Blue Jays prospect Orlevis Martinez has been suspended for 80 games due to testing positive for PED.
Martinez decided to release a statement claiming that him and his girlfriend have been trying to have a child and went to a fertility clinic this summer that prescribed him a medication that contains a banned substance. Martinez said he did not know the medication had this substance but takes full responsibility for the mistake.
The Major League Baseball Players Association issued the following statement on behalf of Orelvis Martinez:
