Max Scherzer makes discouraging comments on the current state of his recovery

The Toronto Blue Jays are in desperate need of pitcher Max Scherer returning but it looks like he is not there yet according to his most recent comments.
The Blue Jays up until a few days ago had Easton Lucas replacing Scherzer but after a couple rough starts, the Blue Jays decided to option him down to Triple-A which now leaves them with 4 starting pitchers.

The Blue Jays have been waiting on Scherzer since his first game of the season as he was placed on IL with a thumb injury that has been bothering him since last season.
Scherzer was spotted throwing the ball a few days ago in Houston as he has rejoined the team after getting his second cortisone shot to help with the discomfort in his thumb.

The former Cy Young winner also spoke with Hazel Mae on his current injury stating that he can finally squeeze the ball again which is good news but on the other side of things he stated that he is not out of the woods yet.
Scherzer said he can finally start squeezing the ball now (after 2nd cortisone shot).
"It's the best it's (thumb) felt for a while now.. at least we're on the positive.."

While it looks like Scherzer is definitely closing in on a return, he seems to not be too confident in his thumb right now.
Even if Scherzer gets back into the rotation in the next week or so, many are wondering how long it will last if he thumb is still bothering him this much.
