Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette is set to become a free agent this off-season which is why there has been a lot of discussions regarding the possibility of the Blue Jays offering him a qualifying offer.
Despite multiple rumors that the Blue Jays could look at trading him, it turns out that they will likely keep him through the deadline to make a real playoff push but might not offer him a contract extension.
Update announced regarding a potential qualifying offer from the Blue Jays to Bo Bichette
According to recent reports, the Blue Jays do not want to trade Bichette at the deadline meaning that they would be risking losing him to free agency by moving forward with this approach.

The Blue Jays apparently might look into offering Bichette a qualifying offer which was at $21.05 million last season but with how he has been playing so far in 2025, if he keeps this up he will likely end up refusing it.
Last year's qualifying offer was $21.05 million. Last season, 13 out of 14 players, including San Francisco Giants shortstop Willy Adames, declined the offer.

Bichette has been having a serious bounce back season this yearr after struggling in 2024 as he has 8 homeruns, 37 RBIs, a .270 batting average with a .316 on base percentage in 274 at bats.
With the numbers he is putting up, if he continues this production rate throughout the entire season, it would not make sense for Bichette to accept a qualifying offer since he would surely get a lot more money by signing a new contract.
The Blue Jays look to be at serious risk of losing Bichette in the off-season if they move forward with these plans.
