The Toronto Blue Jays decided to place Yariel Rodriguez in the bullpen this season and to say the plan is working would be an understatement.

The Blue Jays bullpen has had only a few bright spots so far this season but Rodriguez has definitely be one of them as he continues to be consistent anytime he is asked to step on the mound.

Blue Jays pitched Yariel Rodriguez has been on fire for Toronto this season

When news broke heading into the 2025 season that Rodriguez would be pitching out of the bullpen, many questioned the decision but it has made the coaching staff look likes geniuses so far.

So far this season Rodriguez currently has an ERAa of 3.20 in 21 appearances which is far better than anyone would have expected and it would have been even better if it weren't for a couple games that got out of hand.

Rodriguez has had a slightly inflated ERA due to some unlucky plays. Even with a 3.20 ERA through 21 appearances, he has a low 1.03 WHIP, indicating he has been better than that number alone -Trottier

During the Blue Jays series against the San Diego Padres, Rodriguez continued to domniate and completed something that only two other pitchers have done this season, strikeout Luis Arraez.

Arráez is one of the best hitters in the Majors when it comes to plate discipline and through his first 41 games this season, he had only struck out three times. -Trottier

While the Blue Jays has been stepping up their game quite a bit lately with Mason Fluharty, Brendon Little and Yimi Garcia all pitching really well lately, they now need their starting rotation to improve their game.

The starting rotation was very solid against the Padres but they need to find a way to build off of this and continue to improve because their main issue this season has been consistency.
