Philadelphia Phillies all-star pitcher receives massive suspension

The Philadelphia Phillies announced today that their pitcher Jose Alvarado has received an 80 game suspension for use of PEDs.
The Toronto Blue Jays were in a similar spot this time last year when they broke the news that two games after calling up star prospect Orelvis Martinez, he was suspended for PEDs.

News broke this afternoon that the Alvarado tested positive for PEDs this afternoon and will no be suspended for 80 games which means he will be able to return in the last month of the season.

According to reports, Alvarado tested positive for exogenous Testosterone which is a banned substance in the MLB which means he will now be suspended without pay for the next 80 games.

Phillies president spoke on the matter stating that it is very disappointing but that he treats a suspension like this sort of like an injury since the team needs to replace someone for 80 games.

This s a tough blow for the Phillies since Alvarado was off to an incredibkle start so far this season with a 2.70 ERA in 20 innings pitched along with 25 strikeouts on the season but it seems clear why he was pitching so well now.
The Phillies will now have to make due without him for the next 80 games.
