Toronto Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins went on TSN's overdrive yesterday to speak on the plan regarding Shane Bieber after this season.
The Blue Jays have recently spoke about Bieber's recovery plan in which he is expected to make his first start for the Buffalo Bisons on Sunday and they will take it inning by inning from there.
Ross Atkins discusses the Blue Jays plan for Shane Bieber after this season
It is believed that Bieber will be declining his player option in 2026 to hit the free agent market especially if he has a solid return to the mound this season as his value will go up.
Gm Ross Atkins stated on Overdrive that the plan regarding Bieber is that he is pitching in the World Series this year for Toronto and for next season they're open to having him stay if not they wouldn't have trade Khal Stephens.
#BlueJays GM Ross Atkins on Shane Bieber beyond 2025:
«We're open. We are obviously extremely interested, or we wouldn't have given up such a significant piece. For now, we're just focused on the impact this year.»
Clearly Atkins has a lot of faith in Bieber and believes that he can return to the pitcher he was with the Guardians before the surgery if he is speaking like this about him.
The biggest part in all of this is seeing how Bieber does when he finally returns to the mound.
