Team Canada's starting lineup announced for the World Baseball Classic
Team Canada WBC roster talk centers on Freddie Freeman and the Naylor brothers.
TSN tossed out a fun checkpoint this week, saying 23 of the 30 roster spots are basically decided as Canada gears up for the 2026 World Baseball Classic. Final rosters are due February 3, 2026, so the real squeeze is coming fast.
Freeman is the obvious face of it, because he is still one of the cleanest left-handed bats on the planet. He hit .295 with 24 homers and 90 RBIs in 147 games last season, and those are middle-of-the-order numbers any country would build around.
Freddie Freeman anchors Team Canada WBC hopes
If you've watched Canada over the years, you know why this feels different, the lineup finally looks like it can hurt you one through nine.
Bo Naylor gives them a real catching backbone, even with the ups and downs. He hit 14 homers with 47 RBIs in 123 games in 2025, and that kind of pop from a catcher changes how pitchers attack the bottom third.
Josh Naylor is the muscle, and the resume is not theoretical. In 2024 he crushed 31 home runs and drove in 108, then kept proving he can handle big-league velocity and spin.
Team Canada's WBC roster is taking shape! 23 of its 30 players have been decided, headlined by Freddie Freeman and the Naylor brothers! 🇨🇦

The projected group around them looks legitimate too, with names like Tyler O'Neill, Edouard Julien, Otto Lopez, and Owen Caissie showing up on early roster trackers. That's not just vibes, it's athletic defense plus enough thump to survive a short tournament.
The first-round question is fair, because Canada has been right there before. In 2023 they finished 2-2 in pool play and still got bounced on tiebreak math, which is brutal but also the whole point of these five-team pools.
To get over that hump, Canada needs cleaner innings early, not just late heroics. Short starts force bullpen days, and one crooked number can decide a pool when run differential starts looming.
If the final seven spots bring enough pitching stability, this lineup has the punch to make March feel like more than a fun week, it can feel like a real run.
