The Blue Jays and the entire league mourned the loss of former Dodgers player Billy Bean

Bean played in the MLB and in 1999 became the first player to ever come out as gay. Beane spent the majority of his post career as MLB VP of diversity and growing the game in terms of diversity and inclusion.

News broke yesterday that Beane had tragically passed away after a long battle with cancer.

We join the baseball community in mourning the passing of Billy Bean, and send our deepest condolences to his friends and family

MLB's Senior VP for Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion and Special Assistant to the Commissioner - Billy was a leader in our industry, and we're forever grateful for everything he did both on and off the field.

The entire baseball community mourns the passing of the legend and wishes their condolences to the Beane family.
