The top high school prospect in the 2025 MLB Draft is Ethan Holliday.

Yes, that last name should ring a bell because Ethan is the son of former MLB star Matt Holliday, a 15-year big league veteran who made his mark with the Colorado Rockies, Oakland Athletics, St. Louis Cardinals, and New York Yankees.

Blues Jays reportedly know who they are drafting.

Ryley Delaney from Blue Jays Nation writes that standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 210 pounds, Ethan Holliday is the MLB Pipeline's No. 1 overall prospect for the 2025 MLB Draft. A standout at Stillwater High School in Oklahoma, Holliday played both shortstop and third base with an advanced approach at the plate and the physical tools to match.
If, by some surprise, he chooses not to sign, he's committed to play college ball at Oklahoma State, the same program his family has deep ties to. Interestingly, Holliday isn't just the only top-tier shortstop coming out of Oklahoma this year, as fellow in-state standout Eli Willits is also projected to be a top-10 pick.
"According to his MLB Pipeline scouting report, Holliday's best tool is his power, which is ranked among the best in the class. He's a left-handed batter who still has projection in his 6'4» frame. It's also noted that at this stage in his career, he's considered the better prospect compared to his brother." -Delaney

Holiday's power already stands out, but his tool still needs refinement. He has average speed and is expected to eventually shift over to third base as he continues to grow physically. While his arms is plenty strong, scouts believe he'll outgrow the shortstop position in the long term.
"Although he's ranked as MLB Pipeline's best draft-eligible prospect, their recent mock draft has him going fourth overall to the Colorado Rockies - what a story that'd be. CBS's most recent mock draft also has Holliday going fourth overall, as does Baseball America's most recent mock draft. It seems like the consensus is that Holliday won't be around when the Blue Jays pick." -Delaney

If he somehow falls to them, the team has a pounce, no hesitation. Even if it means overslotting him while underslotting their other picks.
