The Toronto Blue Jays have made history as the first team in modern MLB history, dating back to 1901, to experience a no-hitter and a be victim to a one-hitter within the first seven games of a season.

Jays are the first team in modern MLB history (since 1901) to be victimized by a no-hitter & a 1-hitter within the first 7 games of the season

On Wednesday night, the Toronto Blue Jays suffered another brutal 8-0 defeat against the Houston Astros, dropping their record to 3-4 in the early stages of the season. This comes just two days following a no-hit game by Ronel Blanco, the Blue Jays were limited to just one hit by Cristian Javier and an array of Astros bullpen arms.

In this disappointing performance, Toronto established a franchise record for offensive struggles in the initial part of the season. On top of that, they are the first team since 1901 to experience both a no-hitter and a be victim to a one-hitter within the first seven games of a season.

Here is a look at the lowest hits recorded as a team through the first 7 games of a season in franchise history (1977-present):

38 in 2024 (Thanks to collecting just 1 in tonight's 8-0 loss to the Astros)

43 in 1981

45 in 2019

46 in 1998

47 in 2017

50 in 2014

50 in 2021

52 in 1997

52 in 2016

Adding fuel to the fire of frustration, is the fact that the Blue Jays' offense is expected to be their strongest asset. They are armed with formidable hitters like Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette, George Springer, and other talented players, Toronto's lineup was anticipated to be among the most potent in Major League Baseball. However, the team's recent offensive struggles have raised concerns and highlighted the inconsistency of even the most promising lineups. This is obviously apparent with the records they are setting for awful offense play.

The Blue Jay hitters need to find a solution fast, because if the first week is any indication of what to come, then they are in real trouble.

Toronto will have its home opener on April 8 against the Seattle Mariners. hopefully the home crowd roars can fuel the team with some offensive prowess.
