The Toronto Blue Jays seem awfully close to getting a deal done with free agent Pete Alonso but there seems to be one thing holding him back from getting a deal done.
The New York Mets held a press conference yesterday in which owner Steve Cohen stated that the team's negotiations with Alonso have been the most draining experience he has ever been a part of.
The Pete Alonso negotiations, Steve Cohen says, have been "exhausting."

The one aspect that has kept Pete Alonso from signing with the Blue Jays has been announced
The Blue Jays currently have the highest offer to Alonso that is reportedly over $75 million on a three year contract but have been unable to close the deal due to the New York Mets.
According to reports, Alonso is very interested in the Blue Jays but is holding out out in hopes that the Mets raise their offer at the last minute which currently sits between $68-$70 million.
The only thing stopping Pete Alonso from signing w Toronto is the outside chance of #Mets offering a last minute deal. That's how close Pete is to being gone.

Even though Alonso is waiting to see if the Mets raise their offer, it looks like the Cohen is not on the same page as he mentioned yesterday that the Mets are looking at other options.
If Ross Atkins can manage to get this deal done, the Blue Jays offense will certainly be a force to be reckoned with next season with Vladimir Guerrero Jr, Anthony Santander and Alonso.
