The Toronto Blue Jays announced that they have made a couple roster moves which involve Paxton Schultz and Spencer Turnbull.
Fans have been wondering over the last few days what would happen with Turnbull after a few terrible starts in Triple-A which led many to believe that they would end up releasing him instead of bring him up which they had to do because of a clause in his contract.
Blue Jays option Paxton Schultz and call up Spencer Turnbull
The Blue Jays announce this evening that they have called up Spencer Turnbull from Triple-A and have consequently sent Paxton Schultz back down to Triple-A.

RHP Paxton Schultz has been optioned to Triple-A

The big surprise in all of this is because Turnbull was awful during his time in Triple-A as he had a 7.13 ERA but since the 35 day ramp up window in his contract was coming to an end the Blue Jays had to either bring him up or release him.

Turnbull has been working to get his velocity back up and has posted a 7.13 ERA over 5 starts in the minors.

The other side of this is that Schultz has been unreal for the Blue Jays since being called up as he had a 3.06 ERA in 17.2 innings pitched and did not deserve to get optioned.
It will be interesting to see how Turnbull pitches in his first appearance with the Blue Jays.
