Blue Jays option Paxton Schultz and call up Spencer Turnbull
The Blue Jays announce this evening that they have called up Spencer Turnbull from Triple-A and have consequently sent Paxton Schultz back down to Triple-A.
ROSTER MOVES:
RHP Spencer Turnbull has been recalled from Triple-A
The big surprise in all of this is because Turnbull was awful during his time in Triple-A as he had a 7.13 ERA but since the 35 day ramp up window in his contract was coming to an end the Blue Jays had to either bring him up or release him.
The #BlueJays have activated RHP Spencer Turnbull, after his 35-day window to ramp up ended. Paxton Schultz to AAA.
The other side of this is that Schultz has been unreal for the Blue Jays since being called up as he had a 3.06 ERA in 17.2 innings pitched and did not deserve to get optioned.
It will be interesting to see how Turnbull pitches in his first appearance with the Blue Jays.
