The Toronto Blue Jays recently signed Spencer Turnbull to help with starting rotation but it looks like his time in Toronto might be ending before it started.
Blue Jays Spencer Turnbull time in Toronto looks to be coming to an end
The Blue Jays announced last month that they agreed to a deal with Turnbull and placed him in the minors as he is still recovering from an injury from last season which is why he started off in the Florida Complex League.
The Blue Jays announced that they recently moved Turnbull up to Triple-A but his first start was disaster which is why many believe that he will not be able to return to his previous form and be a solid starter for the Blue Jays.
Spencer Turnbull's 1st AAA start ends with 2 outs in the 2nd inning. Command was an issue again as he continues to work through mechanical problems.
The tough part is that the Blue Jays are now on the clock because they have a 35 day window to bring him up to Toronto which is part of his contract which was signed on May 5th meaning there is not a lot of time left.
There is a clause in Turnbull's contract that creates a 35-day window from his signing in which the Blue Jays have to bring him to Toronto. Since Turnbull officially signed May 5, that deadline is approaching quickly. That next Buffalo start will likely be the last before the Blue Jays have to make a move. -Olenick
Turnbull will likely have one more start in Buffalo before he needs to be brought up but if he proves once again that he is not ready for the majors, there is a good chance that the Blue Jays let him go instead of wasting a roster spot.
If Turnbull wants to remain with the Blue Jays, he needs to perform in his next start.
