The Toronto Blue Jays are actually looking to trade Anthony Santander according to reports

The Toronto Blue Jays have been playing incredibly well since Anthony Santander went down with an injury which is why many believe they will look to trade him at the trade deadline.
The Blue Jays biggest mistake last off-season was signing Santander to a massive 5 year contract which many thought was an overpayment as he would never be the same player he was in 2024.
Blue Jays might actually look to trade Anthony Santander at the trade deadline
The Blue Jays have clearly been better without Santander than without him and with the numbers he has put up for how much they are paying him, it is clear that he is not worth the money.
Ever since Santander went down, Blue Jays players such as Addison Barger, George Springer and Alejandro Kirk have stepped up in a major way which is why the team has been so successful without Santander.
With Santander out, the Blue Jays have received some terrific performances from other players in the lineup, with George Springer, Alejandro Kirk, Ernie Clement, and Addison Barger all stepping up in his absence. -Ferraro
On top of that, Santander is not close to a return but when he does return, the Blue Jays do not really have a spot in the lineup for him right now since they would have to take player out that is probably playing better than him.
Santander still isn't ready to return to the lineup as he hasn't resumed hitting yet. Even when he is ready to return, the question remains; where he can fit in the lineup? -Ferraro
If the Blue Jays do decide to try and move Santander, it will not be easy to move such a massive contract especially with the abysmal numbers he has put up this season.
If a struggling team is willing to take the risk on Santander, the Blue Jays might actually be able to get a decent return for him since he still has 4 more years on his contract but it certainly will not be easy to do.
The sad truth is that even though Santander was the Blue Jays biggest signing of the off-season, they are clearly better off without him.
