The Toronto Blue Jays are currently setting themselves up to be buyers at the trade deadline but that does not mean they won't trade anyone which is why Yariel Rodriguez or Chad Green might be moved.
Blue Jays could look to trade relief pitcher Yariel Rodriguez and Chad Green
Blue Jays relief pitcher Chad Green has been playign well this season but many believe that could just be pure luck since his xERA is at 5.90 while his ERA sits at 3.62.
Since Green is set to become a free agent in the off-season and the Blue Jays will likely not bring him back, there is a high likelihood that they trade him at the deadline for a piece that could impact the team right away.
Chad Green has been very lucky this season and that may catch up to him later this year. His xERA is up to 5.90, significantly higher than his 3.62 ERA. He's a rental too and teams are always trying to find reliever pickups at the deadline. In fact, Toronto will likely do the same, but Green should be dealt in the mix too. -Dionis
According to reports, the Blue Jays could also look to move Rodriguez since he would bring back a solid return with term still left on his deal but there is a higher chance he is traded if he the Blue Jays somehow end up sellers.
The bullpen as a unit this season has been somewhat shaky and at the beginning of the season, Yariel Rodriguez was part of the problem. Now he is on an impressive 16.2 scoreless inning streak and has become an important high leverage reliever for the Blue Jays. He still has two more years on his contract after 2025 and he is finally looking like the guy they wanted to sign out of Cuba two off-season's ago. -Dionis
While the Blue Jays do need to try and leverage certain players to improve their team moving on from Rodriguez could end up being a mistae with how he has been playing.
