The Toronto Blue Jays have a busy few days coming up and it looks like they want to bring back a former player in Arizona Diamondbacks Loudres Gurriel Jr.
Ross Atkins has made it clear that acquiring a new right handed hitter is a crucial area for them when it comes to the trade deadline which is why they have been linked to multiple right handed batters.
Blue Jays looking to bring back former fan favorite Loudres Gurriel Jr
The Diamondbacks are currently 50-53 on the season and sit in second to last in the National League West with almost no chance of making the playoffs which is why they will be sellers at the trade deadline.
Gurriel seems to be one of the players on the trading block as the trade deadline approaches and it looks like the Blue Jays could be interested in a reunion with the left fielder.
The three-game sweep at the hands of the Astros pretty much solidifies Arizona as a seller. The team has several players on expiring contracts they could trade - Gallen, Kelly, Suarez, Naylor, Miller, Beeks, Grichuk. Have also heard there is interest from a few teams in Lourdes Gurriel Jr.
Gurriel Jr is having a solid season in Arizona as he currently has 12 homeruns and 48 RBIs to go along with a .245 batting average an .295 on base percentage which is why he could be a great low cost option for Toronto.
Arizona has received calls from «a few teams» interested in Lourdes Gurriel Jr, per John Gambadoro
Would you want a reunion with the righty outfielder? Do you think the #BlueJays are one of the teams interested?
Since Gurriel is on an expiring deal, the Blue Jays could likely get him for a small return but there will definitely be competition in acquiring him as they surely are not the only team.
