The Toronto Blue Jays have an interesting problem with pitcher Tommy Nance on their hands as they no longer have room for him.
The Blue Jays have added quite a bit to their bullpen this off-season but are still in the market to add some pitchers which is why Nance is in a tough spot.
Blue Jays might need to move Tommy Nance
Nance is out of options heading into 2026 which means the Blue Jays will need to give him a full time spot if they plan on keeping him off waivers because that would be the only way to send him down moving forward.
"There are only a handful of spots available in the bullpen, as Jeff Hoffman, Tyler Rogers, Yimi Garcia, Louis Varland, Brendon Little, and Braydon Fisher all have locked down a spot in the 2026 bullpen. Add in the fact that José Berrios and Eric Lauer are both expected to pitch out of the bullpen, and you can see there won't be many spots available, if any at all." -Ryan Delaney
When looking at his numbers, Nance actually had a solid season in 2025 despite only pitching in 30 games, he finished with an incredible 1.99 ERA and 2-0 record with 32 strikeouts.
The issue right now is that Toronto will likely have him fighting for a spot in their bullpen during Spring Training but if he ends up losing, they might be in a tough spot since another team will not give them as big of a return since they will know Toronto has to move him.
The smart move would be to feel out if there is any interested teams right now in Nance before his stock possibly drops during Spring Training if he does not make the team.
The Blue Jays could likely go and get a solid return for a relief pitcher with a 1.99 ERA if they start shopping him now.
