The New York Mets do not seem to be in a very good spot with superstar Juan Soto right now which is making the Toronto Blue Jays look very good after they missed out on him in free agency.
The Mets signed Soto to the largest contract in MLB history with a 15 year $765 million contract and most thought he would once again be one of the best players in baseball this season but that has not been the case so far.
The Mets are having some serious issues with Juan Soto lately
Soto has been off to a strange start so far this season with the Mets as he only has a .246 batting average with a .379 on base percentage which is not terrible but a lot more is expected out of the player that signed the largest contract in MLB history.
Soto enters Monday slashing .246/.379/.443 on the season for a Mets team that's in first place in the competitive National League East. But that doesn't tell the whole story. -Palattella
On top of that the team has mentioned how it feels like Soto has not been hustling so far this season which Soto does not seem to agree with but manager Carlos Mendoza stated that that they would be talking to him about all of this.
Juan Soto pushes back on the accusations that he hasn't been hustling
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said that the team would speak to Soto about running out of the box
After all this, the Blue Jays are probably happy with seeing they avoided all of this drama but at the same time it is clear that Toronto would have benefited from adding Soto especially when looking at their lack of offense so far this year.
