The Toronto Blue Jays are starting to have some major concerns
Following the Blue Jays' latest tough loss, manager John Schneider was left searching for answers, much like many of his players, who continue to struggle with delivering important hits this season.
One month into the season and the Blue Jays are still struggling to come up with meaningful and timely hits in games.
Despite the team's lack of hits, Blue Jays manager John Schneider remains optimistic that his troops can easily turn it around.
«It takes one game to get out of it, really." -Schneider
Rob Longley from the Toronto Sun writes that the Jays will have to cling to that faint glimmer of momentum as they head into Thursday's off day in New York, hoping to regroup and find some motivation ahead of a three-game weekend series against the Yankees starting Friday in the Bronx.
"Vlad Guerrero Jr.'s .277 average shows he's doing some good things at the plate, though his one home run through 25 games simply isn't enough. He's the one bat that can carry an offence and it needs to start a lot sooner with him." -Longley
Anthony Santander has just one home run, is batting .189, and hasn't recorded a hit in his last 17 at-bats. At this point, the «slow-starter» excuse is wearing thin as time runs out for that narrative to hold.
Oh and let's not forget about shortstop
Bo Bichette who has yet to record a homerun this season.
"Somehow the Jays have reached the final weekend of April at least in the shadow of .500, even though the meek efforts through the current losing streak make it feel much worse." -Longley
Eventually, the matchups should become a bit less daunting. If the Blue Jays' offense can show some signs of life, they'll still have a chance to stay competitive in an American League that hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire this early in the season.
