The Toronto Blue Jays could look at stealing former New York Yankees star prospect pitcher

The Toronto Blue Jays pitchers have been dealing with injuries and inconsistency this season which is why the front office is looking at former New York Yankees star prospect Yoendrys Gomez.
While Gomez has had a tough go lately, he was the Yankees ninth top prospect in their pipeline back in 2022 which is why going after him might make sense as a low risk move.
He was the Yankees' No. 9 prospect in 2022 per MLB Pipeline and was also their No. 11 prospect in 2023. -Dionis
Blue Jays could be interested in former Yankees top prospect pitcher Yoendrys Gomez
Gomez was most recently with the Chicago White Sox but was DFA'd for the third time this season earlier this week after a stint with the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers as well.
This week, the Chicago White Sox to designated Yoendrys Gómez for assignment, marking the third time that a team designated him for assignment this year. -Dionis
When the Yankees DFA'd Gomez earlier this season it came as a bit of a surprise since he had a 2.70 ERA in 10 innings but it has been all downhill since then as he had a 14.54 ERA with the Dodgers and 8.10 ERA with the White Sox.
Claiming Gomez off waivers could be a solid low risk move for the Blue Jays since he has a solid 7 pitch mix with a fastball in the mid 90's which shows that he might be worth taking a risk on especially since he has had solid numbers in the past.
He has a seven-pitch mix led by a mid-90s fastball. He relies heavily on that fastball and his sweeper . He hasn't fooled many hitters with those pitches, however, as hitters are slugging .420 or better against both pitches. -Dionis
While this could be a solid move for the Blue Jays, bringing in Gomez will likely not fix all of their bullpen problems this year but if he steps up his game just a bit, he can definitely help out in giving them more depth.
