The Toronto Blue Jays cannot seem to catch a break this season when it comes to injuries but finally some positives news came regarding Max Scherzer, Erik Swanson and Nick Sandlin.
Blue Jays announce some positive injury updates regarding Max Scherzer, Erik Swanson and Nick Sandlin
When it comes to Swanson, it looks like he is in the final steps to making his return to the majors as he made his first relief appearance in Buffalo last night which is the final step in his recovery and it went great as he did not give up a single hit.
Schneider said that Swanson was likely taking his last step toward a return to the Majors as he was set to appear in relief with Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday. -Postins
Scherzer on the other hand threw 45 pitches yesterday and it looks like the next step in his recovery is facing live hitters which will hopefully take place some time this week.
Scherzer - who exchanged pleasantries with his former Rangers teammates before Tuesday's game - threw a 45-pitch bullpen and Schneider described his velocity as «good.» He said the veteran right-hander's next step would be to pitch to live hitters. -Postins
John Schneider also mentioned that Sandlin threw on Monday and that he is close to returning to the team which he will gradually throw bullpen then face live hitters when he is ready.
Sandlin threw away from the team on Monday, Schneider said, but a return to the team is close - to throw another bullpen session, that is. He'll join the team, throw a bullpen and then graduate to live hitters. -Postins
All of these updates are very positive for the Blue Jays who have been searching for ways to replace all of these injured pitchers since the start of the season but it looks like they are hoping to have them all back soon.
