According to Erik Nehs from the MLB Network, the Toronto Blue Jays have produced 0 home runs out of the cleanup spot this year. It marks a major issue coming from one of the most important bats out of the lineup.
The Blue Jays have 0 home runs from the cleanup spot this year.
I asked Eric Nehs, our outstanding
@MLBNetwork
Researcher, for some context. Here it is.
This is the longest cleanup HR drought to begin an
@MLB
season since the 1997 Astros (60 games).
The 47-game drought from the cleanup spot is the *longest in franchise history* within any season, surpassing a 46-game stretch in June-July 1989.

This is the longest stretch without a home run from the 4th spot for the Blue Jays since 1989. If this trend continues, they will break the MLB record for longest drought in just 13 more games.
According to Lineups.com, Justin Turner has been the cleanup hitter the most this year, and even though he was the most consistent and reliable hitter for the Jays this season, he has since cooled off in the month of May.
He is hitting .227 with only 4 home runs and 16 RBI's.
The bat that hits 4th is supposed to be one of, if not the most, notorious power hitter in the lineup, but the stats from @MLB show a major lack in production.
