The Toronto Blue Jays just announced that they have closed a trade with the Houston Astros for pitcher Edinson Batista.

The Blue Jays have been trying to improve their farm system throughout the off-season as they were ranked very low last season and even into the season it seems to be a top priority.

Blue Jays close a trade with the Houston Astros for Edinson Batista

The Blue Jays broke the news moments ago that they have agreed to a trade with the Astros for pitcher Edinson Batista and they will be sending Nick Robertson over to Houston in exchange.
#BlueJays announce they've traded RHP Nick Robertson to the Houston Astros in exchange for 22-year-old RHP Edinson Batista.
OFFICIAL: We've traded RHP Nick Robertson to the Astros in exchange for RHP Edinson Batista.
The Astros have acquired right-hander Nick Robertson from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for minor league righty Edinson Batista. To make room for Robertson on the 40-man roster, Cristian Javier was moved to the 60-day IL. Robertson is in Triple-A Sugar Land
This seems like strange timing for the Blue Jays to trade Robertson since they have been having a ton of injuries and Batista is nowhere near ready for the MLB so it looks like strange timing.
Toronto trades Nick Robertson?!? Now?!?
This move will likely help the Blue Jays farm system since Batista is a young 22 year old pitcher that has shown some solid potential but it is hard to look at the timing and wonder if this was a smart decision.
