The "Redemption Tour" has absolutely no room for passengers, and Andrés Giménez is officially on the clock.

When the Blue Jays let Bo Bichette walk to the Mets, they pivoted to Gimenez for defensive stability.
On the field, he has been a wizard, flashing the leather that made him a Platinum Glove contender.
But offensively, his debut season in Toronto was nothing short of a disaster.
Giménez (Signed via trade/free agency) posted a slash line of .210/.285/.313 that simply cannot fly in a championship lineup.
You cannot have your starting shortstop posting a .598 OPS when you are trying to chase down the Dodgers.
Ross Atkins spent millions bringing in stars like Dylan Cease and Kazuma Okamoto to build a juggernaut.
He didn't assemble this "Avengers" roster to have a black hole at the bottom of the order.

Defense wins championships, but you still have to hit

The contrast between Giménez's glove and his bat is the most frustrating storyline of the spring.
We all appreciate saving runs, but this team was built to outslug the heavyweights of the American League.
If he is still hitting near the "Mendoza Line" come July, the front office will have to make a ruthless decision.
They are already eyeing upgrades, and with the window wide open, feelings won't matter at the deadline.
Giménez needs to rediscover the stroke that made him an All-Star in Cleveland, and fast.
The fans are desperate to love him, but patience is wearing thin after watching Bo hit .300 for years.
It’s put up or shut up time for the shortstop, because this train is moving with or without him.
