Blue Jays release starting pitcher Jose Urena into free agency

The Blue Jays announced a few weeks ago a long list of roster moves which included signing free agent Jose Urena to a one year major league deal.

Signed RHP Spencer Turnbull to 1-year MLB contract & optioned to FCL Blue Jays

Signed RHP José Ureña to 1-year MLB contract

RHP Max Scherzer transferred to 60-day IL

RHP Erik Swanson transferred to 60-day IL

LHP Josh Walker optioned to Triple-A

Then after making a few starts for the Blue Jays, Urena was DFA'd a few days ago to make room of their roster for Easton Lucas who only played a single game before he was sent back down.

Now, the Blue Jays announce yesterday that Urena has officially cleared waivers and has elected free agency.

Urena actually put up solid numbers during his short stint in Toronto which is why he will probably able to find a new landing spot, even if it is in the minors.
