Blue Jays officially release Orelvis Martinez
Martinez had a very rough 2025 season but no one expected them to just DFA Martinez as he was one of their top prospects just last year before being suspended.
Unfortunately, Martinez simply could not figure it out this season in Triple-A, finishing with a .176 batting average and .288 on base percentage with 13 homeruns and 32 RBIs in 99 games.
The Blue Jays DFA'd prospect Orelvis Martinez today.
At Triple-A this season, he slashed .176/.288/.348.
He ranked No. 51 on our Top 100 in 2023.
Blue Jays Release Orelvis Martinez
While Martinez might end up staying a free agent for a little bit since there is no point of a team committing to him now with so little time left in the season, he should be able to find a new deal in the off-season.
It will be interesting to see where the former Blue Jays top prospect ends up and if he will ever become a full-time MLB player one day but he has certainly proven in the past that he can be.
